Longing for the mountainsPublished: 2020-10-12 10:43
The fall has started to wrap a big, wet and cold embrace around the Gothenburg area. I do like the autumn, with the fantastic colours, lighting a fire, the fresh air and weekends in the garden and forest. Sounds amazing right? There is a catch. I am conveniently not saying anything about the rain. The heavy and seems-to-never-stop-rain we have here most of the autumn.
So I want snow. I am longing for snow. I need snow.
Last winter we did not have any snow in Gothenburg at all. My daughter’s snow racer remained in the shed the entire season. Such a waste! And when the time came to go skiing in the Swedish mountains in February the darn snow racer did not fit in the car. You can imagine the drama! 😉
Well anyway, away we went to the Swedish mountains, to Sälen, and had a fantastic week with friends and their kids. Lots of snow everywhere; on the cabin roof, on the trees, just everywhere.
So pretty. So, so unbelievably pretty.
I sometimes I wonder how it came to be that I am living in the city in Sweden with perhaps the least amount of snow… 🙂
Anyways, Sälen was amazing. The weather was amazing, the skiing was amazing, the company was amazing and my kid was the most happy kid!
She stood on those skis for the very first time on the Sunday and 7 days later she was suddenly so very good! (OK, maybe I am a bit biased, but still) I need to give lots of praise to the ski school and their super concept and teachers. We could never have done that ourselves.
Another thing that was amazing was the cabin we had. Spacious, with a sauna and very lux for the Swedish mountains (new appliances and newly renovated). A great place to stay for the week!
The SCA/Essity personnel foundation
At Essity we have this foundation which owns lots of cabins, houses and apartments all over Sweden, Europe and the world actually. Through this foundation we can rent those accommodations to a very fair price and to me this is really one of the most amazing benefits that we have at Essity. I will for sure be one that uses the opportunity to rent those places again and again until I’ve seen them all 😀
And this particular place we liked so much that we rented it again already now in December. Can’t wait to tumble through the snow again!
What do you think about snow and the Swedish mountains?
